The world’s most glamorous jockey showed her bad girl side when she bent the rules during the Shergar Cup at Ascot in London. Chantal Sutherland drew a four-day suspension for the over-use of her whip. It appeared as though Chantal had ruined her chances of competing in the Pacific Classic on Game On Dude. However, because of a slight variation between British and American rules, Chantal still has a shot at being not only the second woman in history to win the Pacific Classic (the first was Julie Krone) but also the first woman to sweep the Santa Anita Handicap, The Hollywood Gold Cup & The Pacific Classic.

The Pacific Classic is Del Mar’s most prestigious race and has a $1,000,000 purse.
Captain of the British team, Kieran Fallon, expressed his sympathy over the ruling after two additional non-British riders, Cristian Demuro of Italy and Yutake Take of Japan each received similar suspensions.
In addition to preparing physically for this weekend’s upcoming race, Chantal is preparing mentally and emotionally by attempting to put Ascot behind her.
This week Chantal worked with one of her favorite charities, the Helen Woodward Animal Center’s Therapeutic Riding Students Program, spent time with physically and mentally challenged children who would not otherwise have the chance to ride.
This obvious demonstration of compassion reminds us why the world has fallen in love with the little woman who has become the face of the horse racing world.
